The PDR Program preserved from development over 4,100 acres of open space, including thirteen (13) working farms, allowing farmers to keep farming while preserving the beautiful vistas of farmland that we all love. The signs that you see, such as the one at left, memorialize those active, working farms that are participating in this important program.

The Community Preservation Project Plan identified critical areas for future protection (water sources, environmentally sensitive areas, for example). Town leaders crafted and lead the effort to adopt the Community Preservation Fund which provides for ongoing funding for future land preservation projects in the form of the payment of a tax to be paid by every new property owner who moves to Warwick without increasing the burden on our -existing taxpayers.

Remarks by Warwick Conservancy Board Member, Seymour Gordon, at the Warwick Smart Growth Alliance meeting concerning plans to continue the protection of farmland and other environmentally and economically sensitive areas after the PDR bond issue program runs out of money.
