If you own land that you would like to see remain free from development -- for your lifetime and for future generations, we can help. If you do nothing to protect it, your land is most likely doomed to development.
You have several options:
• Donate a Conservation Easement
• Donate Your Land
• Complete a Bargain Sale of Land
Selling your land to a land trust at less than its fair market value can provide significant  tax benefits to you and make it affordable for the land trust.

NOTICE: There will be  a Public Hearing on the new Comprehensive Plan at 7 pm, September 15. The plan is now posted at http://www.townofwarwick.org/

It is important for those concerned about the preservation of open space in Warwick to attend this hearing. The Town board will be interested in hearing support for the  changes noted below. Those who are opposed will probably show up. It is crucial for the preservationist side to be heard. I, unfortunately, will be out of the state that evening.

Chapter Three is particularly important: Some highlights --

• Continue PDR, Density Transfer, Town as receiver of conservation easements.

• Expand grounds for mandatory clustering.
 • Reconsider a density bonus for cluster subdivisions and grant it only in cases where there is corresponding public benefit.

• Use of a formula instead of a fully engineered plan for calculating yield for clustering.

• Increase the percentage of open space preserved through clustering.

• Not count unbuildable lands (wet lands, steep slopes, etc.) in density determination.

• Strengthen building codes to encourage energy conservation.

• Please make an effort to attend and speak out for these changes.
